MAYA

My Maya journey has not been easy. In the beginning Maya definitely hated me. We did not get along. By the end of the Maya unit I realized that although we had a waging war, through the help of my teachers Maya and I became friends. I learned how to make 3D images and to render some really cool things. Although I learned so much there is still SO MUCH more to learn about in this insane program. Here are some of the things I have made....

Snowman

Lamp Post

Fruit

Chess Board

Buildings

Editorial

For the project I used Photoshop to show the dangers of anorexia. Using different filters and the painting tools I was able to create this image.  Using different filters has a large impact on the image. I used humor and a pun in order to paradox the severity of this disorder. In Addition, I played around with lighting and contrast. I think it is important for people to be aware of how serious the disease is. Too often people don't take anorexia seriously. I think this poster would be able to allow people to understand the importance of getting help and changing bad habits before they become too severe.

Personal Narrative

This personal narrative describes my time in Australia with my family. For this image I used Photoshop to edit the photos. I used filters and gradient to transform the original images into this piece. For this piece I arranged the photos strategically to allow the angles to create the perfect space for the text. I enjoyed making this because it reminded me of the fun time spent with my family and the interesting twist I can put on old photos.

Digital Nation

The “Digital Nation” video definitely changed my views on how people use technology. I can say that I always need to be connected to the media world whether it’s using my smart phone or laptop. But, at the same time the way college students were portrayed in the video were very extreme cases. Most students do not need to be connected through out the day. Also, many students don’t multi task the way they were shown in the video. It is nearly impossible to do that many things efficiently at once.
The video also talked about Internet communities and “worlds”. Most people who use these programs do not get as attached as the ones in the video. Although the Internet is a great way to meet people, it is also unsafe and is not the best way of communication. OS many of these people haven’t even mat each other but are the closest of friends through there Internet communities. It’s crazy that some of these people can actually meet partners and even their spouse in a virtual world.
“Digital Nation” is an extreme exaggeration of what really goes on between college students and media. It is hard to believe that 20 years ago none of these problems were present. Many people take the Internet for granted and overuse it but not the extremes that this video shows.

Contrasting Identities

These pictures describe two contrasting identities that I have. During school and work I am very dedicated and take my work very seriously, however I love to be silly with my friends. Using photoshop, I used filters, blur tools, smudging, and stamps in order to portray my emotion and mood.

If The Shoe Fits

This image was taken in my roommate's closet. I think the perspective allows the viewer to want to look deeper into the closet and explore what's inside. These photos are for the assignment image conversions. By using Photoshop I was able to bring out warm colors with gradient and then inverting it to further discover interesting aspects of the image. I think the second image gives the photo a cooler and interesting style.

Tumble

This photo was taken in the inside of a washing machine. This image is for the assignment image conversions. I think this image is interesting in its original form because it is hard to distinguish what it is but, by using Photoshop, I was able to further distort the picture using filters such as plastic wrap and color adjustments. I think the second image makes you think harder about what it is and the colors make it seem almost extra terrestrial.

Calm After the Storm

This image was taken in my basement after hurricane Irene. My family had to evacuate our home and our basement flooded. These images pertain to the assignment of image conversions. I used the original image, along with Photoshop, to alter the image to add more expression. I chose these colors in order to amplify the emotions felt by my family and me.
